South East London Humanists & Central London Humanists present:
Searching for Meaning: exploring palliative and end of life care
A documentary and discussion about death and dying with the film’s director Jean-Francois Rodrigues and Simon O’Donoghue, Head of Pastoral Support at Humanists UK
Very few of us are willing to openly discuss the subject of death, even to prepare for our own inevitable death. This documentary tackles the subject in a positive way with interviews from a wide range of experts as well as patients.
Filmmaker Jean-Francois Rodrigues had to ask the questions: What is a good death? What is palliative care? What is end of life care? when the care given to his own mother in the last week of her life failed to provide basic compassion or support. One of the contributors summed up the issue for him when she said: “Not every death is a medical event, I see it as a human event.”
This is a free event; donations of £2 invited towards venue hire; refreshments provided.
