Lewisham Council looking for Humanist to join Religious Education committee
Do you believe that children should receive a broad education about both religious and non-religious beliefs and values? Are you willing to work cooperatively and patiently with members of religious organisations to make RE and school assemblies more inclusive? Then you might be interested in becoming a humanist SACRE rep.
Lewisham local authority is currently looking for a humanist who is interested in joining their local Standing Advisory Committee for Religious Education (SACRE). Being on a SACRE helps make RE more inclusive of humanism and ensures the humanist voice is included on education questions related to religion and belief. Having some knowledge and/or experience of education and schools (eg as a teacher, parent, or governor) would be useful, although this is not essential. Experience of engaging in dialogue with people with different beliefs is also an advantage.
