For our regular monthly meeting in May we were thrilled to have a visitor from America, Dr Steven Butler, to talk about and reflect on the history of Humanism and Atheism there, how this context has influenced the situation Humanists find themselves now and how it differs from our experience in the UK and Europe.
You can read more about Steve in our initial post here. He was an eloquent speaker, with a talk packed full of information and insights. He very happily answered our questions and joined with a wide ranging discussion, which continued in the pub afterwards, unpicking attitudes to and opportunities for Humanists on either side of the pond. A big thank you to Steve for his talk and being so generous with his time.
