When: Sunday 17th September, meeting at 11am
Where: Beckenham Place Park; meet at the junction of Beckenham Hill Rd with Highland Croft (see below for more information)
We are starting our bi-monthly walks with a gentle 2.5 miles around Beckenham Place Park, which is the largest green space in the borough of Lewisham, covering 98 hectares, with large areas of ancient woodland. You can read more about the wildlife, geology and other features of the park here.
The route is mostly on paved or hard packed earth surface, with some slight hills. Comfortable shoes of any sort should be adequate but be prepared if the weather is wet.
This is a circular walk starting from the junction of Beckenham Hill Rd with Highland Croft, there is a bus stop serving route 54 here, which is where we will meet. You can see the precise location on a map here.
Beckenham Hill is the nearest train station. You can take the 54 bus from Beckenham Hill Station (stop E) heading towards Elmers End and get off at Highland Croft. Alternatively this is only a 5-10 minute walk from the station.
You can read more details about the walk here.
This walk is being led by Sam (committee member) and you can contact him on the day on 07711 132023.
There is a cafe at Beckenham Place Mansion, where we hope you will join us for refreshments at the end. The nearest accessible toilets are in Beckenham Place Mansion.
Please come along and enjoy a gentle Sunday stroll in good company!
